The company was founded by Horst Köstler and Thomas Gronert in Munich, Feb 12th, 2004. The two founders have known each other for more than six years and started to plan and execute common interest projects in 1998. In February 2001 Thomas Gronert, who was at that time production executive in a media company, got Köstler as a development leader into the company of the same name. Since then the two founders co-operated very closely during the following years. The founders planned concretely the company since mid-2003, prior to be created at the beginning of 2004.
Thanks to the vocational experiences of the founders and their co-workers, who have collected their knowledge in different media companies, the Missing Link Software can rely on more than 10 years of international experience in the areas of computer animation, production, software development and database design.
The special combination of these competences enables the company to process optimal solutions for the media industry.

The operational business is in the hands of the two founders and managing directors. A competent trio of advisers stays aside the managing directors for the strategic orientation of the company.

He worked in the media industry for ten years and could accumulate extensive experience as an employed computer graphic artist, independent 3D operator, independent 3D-instructor and in executive production. He has gone through different positions in the animated film production process and could gain valuable experiences and perspectives from different areas of responsibility and work. Particularly in his last employment as an executive for production in a media company, he was active within an international environment. There he could deepen his knowledge on animated films, particularly from the producer´s point of view and structure a broad international network of producers and production companies in the European animation market.

He has acquired and deepened his large and substantial knowledge in the area of software development in the last seven years as lecturer for IT trainings, project manager and technical manager in different companies. As project manager, he could prove his leadership abilities in the construction of a development department for databases and multimedia applications in an IT systems company.
During his last position as development leader in a media company specialized in animated films, Horst Köstler and his team planned, processed and assembled a project-wide and extremely automated organizational structure. The production process for animated films is what he knows the most
